13-inch MacBook Pro with Magic Keyboard – Features, Price and Other Details

Today, Apple launched its new 13-inch MacBook Pro with scissor mechanism-based Magic Keyboard. In an aluminum unibody design, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro is powered by 10th generation Intel processors with up to 4.1GHz Turbo Boost. The machine also supports 3733MHz LPDDR4X memory, faster graphics performance and offers 16GB and 32GB memory variants, with T2 built-in security chip.

Running on macOS Catalina, it features a 13-inch Retina Display, immersive stereo speakers, Force Touch trackpad, all-day battery life, Touch ID authentication, and Touch Bar.

13-inch MacBook Pro gets a Power Boost and Double Storage

The high-end variant of the new machine is powered by the new and powerful 10th generation Intel quad-core Ice Lake-U Core i7-1068NG7 processor. Intel Iris Plus Graphics deliver approximately 80 percent faster graphics performance which supports editing 4K videos, faster rendering gaming. Furthermore, the improved integrated graphics support video output to Pro Display XDR at 6K.

Apple has also introduced LPDDR4X memory clocked at 3733MHz. The high-end model of the MacBook Pro ships with 16GB memory, and can be configured with 32GB memory for an additional price.

All MacBook models also ship with double storage capacity, with the high-end model configurable with 4TB of SSD storage.

The base models, which start from $1,299 and $1,499, did not get the faster processors, graphics, or memory treatment. They still ship with 8th generation Intel processors and 8GB LPDDR3 memory, configurable up to 16GB.

13-inch Retina Display and Magic Keyboard

To enhance typing experience, Apple has finally moved to scissor switch-based Magic Keyboard, from the disappointing butterfly keyboard. The new Magic Keyboard provides a comfortable and stable typing experience with 1mm of key travel. For easier navigation, it has an inverted “T” arrangement for arrow keys. Now Apple’s complete notebook lineup ships with Magic Keyboard, including 16-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The new 13-inch MacBook Pro Magic Keyboard also has a physical Escape key, along with the Touch Bar.

Security T2 built-in Chip

To provide users with the most secure boot process and data storage on a device, Apple has equipped the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with T2 Security Chip. It is Apple’s custom-designed 2nd generation silicon, which works as a gatekeeper by checking that software during boot process has not been tampered with and encrypts all data stored in SSD. It also stores user’s Touch ID information for unlocking, passwords, or online purchases.

Available in space gray and silver, the latest addition to the MacBook Pro line-up can be ordered online starting from $1299. For education customers, the price starts at $1199.
