iPhone 12’s water resistance put to test

The new iPhone 12’s water resistance was put to test by an anonymous leaker on Twitter, @L0vetodream and the result was impressive. Apple’s new 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are both were launched on October 16 for pre-order online, therefore, it is difficult to tell which model of the new flagship series was tested.

As per the technical specifications on the company’s website, all models of the latest iPhone series are splash, water, and dust resistant with “Rated IP68 (maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes) under IEC standard 60529”.

iPhone 12’s Water Resistance Tested

A two minutes and twenty seconds video with the caption ‘test’ was shared on the Twitter account of @L0vetodream. Since the leaker did not share any other information, it can not be said with confidence which 6.1-inch iPhone 12 was tested.

Using an iPad as a timer, the tester starts and submerges the new smartphone in water. For over two minutes, the iPhone 12 stays in water with an on-display and functions without any glitch or malfunction, when taken out of the water. I must admit, that when the smartphone was dropped in the water bowl, my heart did leap in my mouth and I was amazed by its water resistance technology.

Since the launch of new 6.1-inch smartphones, the cameras, glass durability, 5G network support, and A14 Bionic chip processing speed of the launched smartphone models are being tested by tech reviewers and owners. Fortunately, for Apple, the reviews of the smartphones resonate with praises for their new design, high-quality OLED display with four times more durable glass, advanced camera system, and innovative features.

“For most people, the iPhone 12 is a really stellar buy. Its bright colors, lightweight but sound construction and improved camera make it the ‘easy choice’ for those confused by Apple’s broad current lineup.”TechCrunch
