Myriota Boosts Global IoT Reach with New Satellite Launch

Myriota has taken a significant step forward in expanding its satellite-based Internet of Things (IoT) services, adding four more satellites to its constellation. The deployment, carried out on January 14th as part of SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission, strengthens the company’s ability to deliver reliable, low-power connectivity to remote areas across the globe.

These new additions to Myriota’s UltraLite satellite network were launched in partnership with Spire Global, a provider of space-based data and analytics. The expansion enhances network performance and broadens coverage, particularly in under-served markets such as Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and parts of the Middle East.

As Myriota scales its operations, it will continue to work closely with Spire, utilizing the company’s satellite infrastructure to accelerate its global reach. This strategic collaboration supports Myriota’s mission to build an affordable, energy-efficient IoT network designed for sectors requiring dependable data transmission in hard-to-access environments.

Myriota’s technology enables industries like agriculture, utilities, and transportation to monitor and manage assets using long-life sensors that transmit data from virtually any location. Applications currently include tracking water storage levels, monitoring wind turbine output, and securing high-value equipment in transit or at remote sites.

CEO Ben Cade emphasized the growing importance of satellite-enabled connectivity in modern IoT solutions. He noted the company’s ongoing efforts to remain at the forefront of a rapidly advancing market, where demand for secure, low-power communications continues to rise.

In December 2024, Myriota secured $32 million in funding to accelerate its expansion plans. The investment round was led by the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC) and supported by venture firm Main Sequence, along with other contributors like Inter Valley Ventures. The funding will help Myriota further develop its global network and drive adoption of IoT technologies in field-intensive industries, with a focus on extending its footprint in the Middle East.

One of Myriota’s most notable regional achievements to date includes its participation in Saudi Arabia’s CST Sandbox program. In partnership with STC and Giza Systems, Myriota successfully deployed a communications solution to support water metering in rural areas for the country’s Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.

With this latest satellite launch and a strong financial backing, Myriota is poised to play a larger role in the evolution of global IoT connectivity—bridging communication gaps where terrestrial networks fall short and bringing data closer to the edge, wherever it’s needed.
